The Legend Is Back!

Some of you may have forgotten him, some of you might still remember him as the dude who quit rapping. Hell, some of you might not know him at all....

But finally, after 4 years of solitare after his previous album, Encore, the Legend of Rap finally returns with a brand new album - Relapse.

Em just returned from Rehab over a sleeping pill addiction after his good friend, Proof, got killed in a club brawl. It had been pretty tough for him for these past few years trying to return to his old self. But finally, he had returned to the limelight, with a brand new album and a totally new tempo.

The new album is more upbeat, and have a dark feeling to it. All but one of the songs was produced by Dr. Dre. This was so that Em could focus more time on the lyrics writing and choose a beat by Dre after he's done with the lyrics.

Lyrics are as brilliant and original as ever, as expected from the Legend. The album starts out with a short intro about Em being discharged from the Rehab, with his alter ego talking him back into drugs, only to wake up to find out it was just a dream. The intro gave the listeners a rough idea of what's next throughout the whole album, filled with darkness, hate, truth, and about his personal life.

Songs like 3am is just pure creepy, "I bite and I slash, slice and gash " should give you a rough idea what it is about. He even made a song about his mom, talking about her drug addictions, which also caused him to get addicted, "My mom loved valium and lots of drugs And that's why I am like I am cause I'm like her ". It also talked about his mom's abuse when he was a kid, "Put your face in it before I throw you in the basement again".

He even touched upon his childhood molestation in the song Insane, "till one night he snuck in and said, "we're going out back- I want my dick sucked in the shed"". We made you was what they call a 'Hiatus Bash' used in comedy television in which returning artist would bash about stuff that happened during his inactivity, "Did you Miss me? Jessica Simpson sing the chorus ". Full of cameos, the song(especially the video) is really hillarious - that is if you can even hear a word he say.

Beautiful was what most fans are waiting for. A song talking about Em's life, "so why dont you all sit downn listen to the tale that im about to tell " and also about him trying to refrain from drugs, "its like all eyes on me i try to avoid any eye contact cuz if i do that then it opens the door for conversations like i want that ". The song ends, telling the listeners to be strong, to be who you are, "god gave you shoes to fit you, so put em on and wear them, be yourself man, be proud of who you are ". Sounds familiar? The song is exactly what the title said - simply Beautiful

If you buy the album online, it'll come with 2 bonus tracks - Careful What You Wish For and My Darling.

Verdict - The album is nice, pretty dark, some songs are scary, some are weird, some are nice, but overall its more of a case of like it or hate it. It ain't as good as his previous albums, but still better than most other Rap albums today.
